Torch, Summer 2003

O 4 TORCH / Summer 2003 by Roger Overturf One of the great challenges contemporary leaders face is the effective management of change. Change is occurring in every sector of society and it is occurring at ever-increasing rates. Many seem dizzied by its pace and scope. But, Christian leaders should be neither frightened nor intimidated. Instead, we should embrace change as the mark of individual, institutional, and societal development. The opposite of change is not status quo; the opposite of change is stagnation. Change is both inevitable and desirable. It is inevitable in the sense that we will all experience change whether we embrace it or seek to avoid it. It is desirable in the sense that it can be the vehicle by which we are transported from where we are to where we need to be.
