Torch, Winter 1978
INAUGURATION DR. THOMAS YOUNGER 1 Dr. Younger is president ofWestern Baptist Bible College and delivered a challenge to the college. "John Baily once said 'the bit of the road that most requires to be illuminated is the point where it forks.' Cedarville is at that fork in the road, not to choose another purpose, but rather another leader. . . . "What God requires, no leader does alone. We must join and be charged anew with a commitment to scholarship, the reason why we are here; to God, Whom we serve; to one another, as leaders together; to the world of people, who need Christ; and to Dr. Paul Dixon, God's choice man for this hour." DR. WARREN WIERSBE Dr. Wiersbe is Senior Pastor ofthe Moody Church in Chicago. He gaue a challenge to the president. "Until you have been there, you can never know the loneliness of leadership. A leader is surrounded by a staff; a leader is surrounded by people who love him, who wish him well, who pray for him. There is a wide community of Christians who want to see him succeed. But in spite of this, there is a loneliness to leadership. The loneliness of being misunderstood; the loneliness of criticism; the loneliness of having a vision that some other people don't have; the loneliness of stepping out by faith when others want conformity." PRESIDENT PAUL DIXON "I accept this office with gratitude for the confidence placed in me, and with a great sense of responsibility... . "... A commitment has been placed into my hands that is most serious. In tum, I have made a commitment to our faithful trustees that their work of these many years has not been in vain. We will continue to stand upon the inerrant Word of God and make it our chief objective to train the young people to communicate that Word to the World...."
