Widowed: Alone But Not Abandoned. W e had been married almost 14 years and the Lord had given us three wonderful children. All those years had been spent in the ministry, and we were seeing the Lord do marvelous things in the church where my husband was serving as assistant pastor. Then, early one Sunday morning I awoke with a start and realized he had not come home . I was to know in about two hours what I somehow suspected : my husband was dead! The next day ' s newspaper headline read: "$10 ,000 Reward in Murder of Area Minister." The article that followed told how my husband had been shot and killed during a robbery.
