1961 Miracle Yearbook

Coach Bowser and Most Valuable Player Norris Smith discuss the problems encountered during the last season. Baseball The coming of another baseball season brought a new, rich source of talent which, when mingled with the veteran ability of the years before, brought a spark of hope in Cedarville College baseball followers. The hustling Yellowjackets, playing one of its roughest schedules ever, developed gradually during the course of the season and finished strong with two victories over Findlay and Wright-Patterson. Although it was not a winning season, the team can boast of a couple of accomplishments — two wins over a strong Wright- Patterson Air Force Base Team and their first win ever over Findlay. The most valuable player trophy went to Norris Smith for his fine pitching performances and all around play. With a .311 batting average, Dave Dautel copped the batting title. His excellent defensive play around first base aided the team, also. Coach Sherwin Bowser can look optimistically to next season expecting further improvement.
