SOCIAL SCIENCE "... A life is beautiful and ideal, or the reverse, only when we have taken into our consideration the social as well as the family relationship." —Ellis Man through the ages has had soc- ial interaction with hisenvironmentas well as with other men. The purpose of the Social Science Department is to show the student the significance of this interaction. Cours- es are offered in both history and sociology since each area is important in order to understand the total pic- ture of man's reactions and inter- action. Once the overall view is achiev- ed, courses of a more specialized nature are studied. 44
