1969 Miracle Yearbook

The balanced Christian life is one controlled by the Holy Spirit. He operates in the life of the believer not only in the realm of the spiritual, but the intellectual and physical as well. The Christian is exhorted to "glorify God in his body and spirit which are God's-(1 Corinthians 6:20). With a body offered unto God as a living sacrifice, and a mind renewed by divine quickening, the believer in Christ is acceptable with God, and can thus prove the will of God in his life. It has been stated many times that "Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.- Of all of God's creation, man alone has been created in His image. Man is for this reason "better than the birds(Matthew 6:26), and the sheep (Matthew 12:12). He does have preeminence above the beast (Ecclesiastes 3:18-20). Created in the image of God, man knows, loves, and wills. He is endowed with these faculties by God, his creator. Who Himself understands our thoughts afar off; manifests His love toward us in His Son; and always does according to His will in the army of heaven. These God-given privileges were darkened, degraded, and depraved by man's fall into sin; but they have been renewed, regenerated, and r Christ, therefore, has not only a different point o The entire personality of the child of God fective. Jesus said, "Thou shalt love the Lord strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor a t y the operation of God in salvation. The new person in great responsibility in living a balanced Christian life. lved if his service with Christ is to be fruitful and ef- all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy sell'(Luke 10:27). Here the "heart" is a term involving intellect, emotions, and will. This is made clear by other Biblical references. "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he"(Proverbs 23:7). "Love one another- wit,iii,-toloare heawirof-r,,ently- (L.Peter 1:22). "Doing the will of God from the heart(Ephesians 6:6). The intellect, emotions, and volition of the Christian must be recognized, developed, and dedicated to God if these lives of ours are to be lived with personal peace and profit. Hopefully, graduates of Cedar- villCeollege have been strengthened in these areas of life by four years of experience and study under the direction of a faculty who sought to carry out the purposes ofthe college to this end. A balanced Christian life becomes a reality through a day by day dedication to Christ. The development of Christian character is a life-long process. It is our prayer that the members of the class of 1969 may continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ in the years which lie ahead.
