Cedarville's long quest for the national playoffs finally culminated this year in a 6th place finish at the NAIA tournament. After losing a tough match to Erskine, 1-0, the Jackets came back to whip George Mason, 3-0. In a battle for fifth, Cedarville fell to Keene State 3-1 after leading at the halfon a goal by Larry Bollback. This sixth place finish in the nation plus a ranking of tenth among all Ohio Colleges were goals the Cedarville College athletic department has had for some time. The Jackets were particularly outstanding defensively thisyear, holding opponents to an average of 1.26 goals a game, the lowest in the school's history. Dave Slusher recorded 7 shutouts for the 'ville. The 13 wins were a record as well as the 56 goals with Bollback accounting for 22 of those. The team looks to be even stronger next year as Bollback is the only departing player on first year Coach McGillivray's squad. Soccer/109
