Somehow,I never thought I'd have to choose between all the "dream careers" I had al- ways envisioned. But now,I suddenly found I was a SE- NIOR. That word only meant one thing: GET A JOB. The thought of picking just one thing to do with the rest ofmy lifeseemed utterlydepressing; I had simply avoided the idea for the last twenty years. It wasn't that Cedarville College had not adequately armed me for this face-off. I dideverythingIwassupposed to do. I took the career apti- tude test--the counselor said I musthavelied orsomething-- thescoresrevealed noparticu- lar aptitudein anysingle area. Itook"EmploymentStrategies" to force myself to encapsulate my entire life on one sheet of paper. I switched my major from Pre-Med after a girl fainted on my feet during a recital and I stood up scream- ing. I regularly devoured ar- ticles like"TheTop25Careers for the 90's," and worked one summer at an internship. Nonetheless, I still don't know. In fact, I don't think I will ever know "What I Want To Be When I Grow Up." I startled myself at a recent in- terview when I realized that four years at Cedarville had taught me much more about people and the truly impor- tant things in life than it had abouthowto pourmyselfinto ajob. God knows how I will use theskillsHehasgiven me.So Igoon,in hindsightseeingthe road signs which prove His hand has guided me. What- ever career paths I choose are not as important as the motives behind my choice, thecounselin thatdecision, and the properorderofpri- orities in my life.
