Photo byTodd Hill Jackets Tennis Team Finishes Season 12-1 ItwasanunusualseasonfortheCedarville College men's tennis team. For only the third time in the last 29 years, the Yellow Jacketsfailed tosend a representative to the NAIA National Tournament. Cedarville coasted through the regular season at 12-1 including a perfect 7-0 mark against NAIA District 22 competition. Ev- erythinglooked tobeinorderfortheJackets to win their sixth straight district tourna- ment,especially since they were scheduled to serve as host. However,top playerBrannonPottswent downwithanankleinjurytwodayspriorto the event and everything unraveled from there. Malone College, whom Cedarville had beaten 7-2 earlier in the season on the road,peaked and claimed the district team title as well as the singles and doubles crowns. SophomoreJamieHandhada15-2singles record and was an All-NAIA District 22 performerwhichincludesthoseplayerswho advancetothequarterfinalsinsinglesand semifinals in doubles. He was a singles semifinalist and he,along with freshman teammate Josh Rader, was the doubles runner-up. Hand is now 30-5 for his ca- reer in singles. Junior Todd Entner, 13-3 in singles, wasan all-district performerbymaking it tothe quarterfinals,whileJosh Rader was all-district in doubles. Freshman Gary Hey had the team's best singles record at 14-1,Rader was 10-3,and Potts,a senior, had a 7-2 mark prior to his injury to im- prove his career mark to 46-11. Cory Grove was the only other senior on the team and he had a 9-5 singles record.
