The Yellow Jackets completed their 5-0-1 start with a 5-3 victory at Bluffton. Following a 1-0loss to Mid-Ohio Confer- ence and NAIA District 22 champion Walsh University plus a 3-1 setback at Findlay, the Jackets appeared to right themselves with a 3-1 victory at Shawnee State. However,then "the streak" set in. Cedarville tied a school record withsixstraightlosses,fivecomingbyasingle goal. TheYellow Jacketsentered theNCCAA District III tournament at Marion, Indiana seededsecondoutofthreeteams.Theyopened withaconvincing3-0winoverSpringArboras senior forward Ted Kruse scored twice and sophomore Jeremy Walling added the other score. Theseasoncameto a haltin a2-0lossto hostIndiana Wesleyaninthefinal,eventhough the Jackets outshot the Wildcats,10-8. Junior midfielder Eric Reini wasnamed to theNCCAA All-American second team for thesecond straightyear. Healsoearned aspot on the All-MOC and NAIA District22second teams. Walling led the team in scoring with 13 goals and four assists for 30 points. He was voted to the MOC first team and District sec- ond team aswassophomoregoalkeeper Mark Otto.
