1995 Softball Review TheLadyJacketsoftballteam finished witha 16-25record yet played well enough to qualify for the Mid-Ohio Conference Tournament. Cedarville struggled the first half of the season, butthe women split their final 20gamesincluding five winsin their last eight outings. Thefinalrecord wassomewhatdeceptive. Head coachKathy Freesewatched herteam playsevengamesagainstteamsranked in the NAIA Top 25, plus the Jackets were just 2-9 in one-run games. Junior shortstop Cindy Cremeans wasvoted to the All-MOC first team. She led the club with a.357 batting average which included ninedoubles,twotriples,and28runsscored.Cremeans alwaysseemed to makecontact with justtwo strikeouts and no walks in 148 plate appearances. DiAnn Millercompleted her career asa modelofconsistency both atthe plateand in thefield. Shebatted.336whichincluded a team-high ten doubles and was 10-14 with two saves on the mound whilebeingnamed tothe All-MOCsecond team. Miller, who holds numerous career school records, graduates as Cedarville's all-time leading hitter with a .366 career batting average. Sophomorethirdbaseman Erika Miller wasalsotabbed tothe All-MOCsecond team after batting.305. Shesetaschoolrecord with 140 assists in the field. Jennifer Sloan wasthe only othersenioron the team,and she batted.276whileleadingtheclub with25runsbattedin.Shealso recorded 261 putouts, the second highest total for a season at Cedarville,while splitting dutiesasacatcherand firstbaseman. Penni Ruhl,ajunior,handled the other halfofthejob behind the plate and also spentsome time in the outfield. She hit.314 with team-highs of29 runs scored and 17 walks. Sloan and Ruhl were both named Mid-Ohio Conference Scholar-Athletes. The elite group includes juniors and seniors who have cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. Mark Womack softball 175
