Jen PI 'Laying gogdfiez Lutz At almost any time one can find a group of three female students sitting together with heads bowed in prayer. They may be in a dorm room or a student lounge or an empty chapel. The location does not matter, nor doesthe size ofthe group. Whatexcites them is the opportunity tospendtime in prayerata settimeeach week with others who hold the same vision,bringing personal requests and campusconcerns before God's throne. Groups like these have committed to similar half-hour time slots throughout the week. CedarvillejuniorJennyLutz firsthad theideafor organized campus prayerduring this past summer.Throughoutthatsum- mer,God"rearranged"herlife, as Jenny puts it, causing sev- eral struggles to increase her desire to know God more. Otherfriendsfrom herhomein Orlando,Florida,werealsoex- periencing His change, and shared with Jenny what God wasdoingontheirsecularcam- puses. The Prayer Force began in Septemberaseightwomenmet one morning at seven o'clock for prayer. Turnouts on these Monday mornings increased, and gradually the focal point turned to revival across the entire campus. The desire spread to other groups, and soon several nursing students beganto meetattheirowntime. Several RAs expressed how God moved in the hearts of those in their units, and several hundred be- came in- volvedinthe Experienc- ing God Bible study. Thede- sire for women to pray and fel- lowship together became afo- cus ofthe Prayer Force. Jenny presented the idea of having several small groups covering the campusin prayer each day. What no one ex- pected was the willingness in the hearts of those gathered; almost one hundred groups signed upimmediately to pray for one half hour per week. Since then,the system hasim- proved,with boxes filled with prayer cards now situated around campus. Each prayer group can pick up the current requestsand bringthoseneeds, and any additional ones they have, to God. All involved express an eagerness to see whatGod will do when people humble themselves in prayer (2Chronicles7:14)and waitto see whatHereveals(Jeremiah 33:3). These two verses have become the desire of Prayer Force.
