Jon and DonnaPurpleconductedtheceremony,en- couragingaudienceinvolvementandprovid- inghumorousentertainmentbetween talent acts. Studentsdemonstratedmusicalability,both vocallyandinstrumentally.TheCaylorSis- tersperformedtwooriginalsongs.Theirgreat abilitytoharmonizeandtoplayguitarsimpressedtheaudience.TimPhillips performeda"musicalcomedy"withmenfromhisunitontheHill.They parodiedaVeggieTalessongandgeneratedlaughsfromtheaudience becauseoftheirwittyrewrite. NathanRadford,anannualAlphaChiTalentShowparticipant,brought morevarietytotheshow withventriloquism.Hebroughttheaudienceto life withhisexceptionaltalent. Hepresented his well-known"Auction Song"withhisdummy,andthenventuredtoperformhumanventriloquism withanaudiencevolunteer. BethAnneKapanskycaptivatedthecrowd withhertap-dancingrou- tineand gymnastic abilities.'ThePurples told students thatDr.Dixon added woodtothebacksectionofthestagespecificallyforherroutinein the talentshow. While this was notthe case,it did comein usefulfor Kapansky'sact.Anotherreturningparticipant,JessGamiere,amazedthe crowd with illusionary card tricks. He also caughtfemale students' attentionbyincorporatingCelineDion's"MyHeartWillGoOn"intohis act. Nathan Radford and the Caylor Sisters placed first,for non-musical and musical talents,respectively. JessGamiereplaced second,whileTheTimPhillipsGroupcame inthird. Jess Gamiere dazzles the crowd with his magical talents(top right).
