140 Activities Band Spirit PeP Band Who could forget Cedarville Basketball with the bee running in the crowd,the flag flowing across the court, and of course, the loud, energetic music from the pep band? Basketball season was very important throughout winter quarter at Cedarville. Students gathered in the gym on game nights to cheer their school to a victory. The pep band encouraged crowd enthusiasm with every song. Andrew Nicholl, a freshman trumpet player in the band,said, "The Cedarville pep band was an absolute necessity to Cedarville basketball." The members ofthe band also added a special touch to the games with funny hats or painted faces. Students counted on the band for laughs and enjoyment. As Christine Newhard,a sophomore at Cedarville, said,"It allowed the students to get into the game,and it provided a way to have fun during warm ups and time outs." Mr. Michael DiCuirci and Dr.James Colman directed the Pep Band that performed at all home games. The band metfour times to practice before the season started and then played together at each game. The band's volunteer members were dedicated to enhancing the game atmosphere and promoting school spirit. Holding itself up to the standards ofthe music department, the Cedarville University Pep Band was marked by quality and dedication. The pep band was something that left an impression on every student's memories of basketball games. They were an unforgettable part ofschool spirit and met the challenge to "back the jackets all the way." Mike DiCuirci shows his school spirit when he plays a mean trombone with the pep band.
