CUwomens tennis In the first round ofthe NCCAA Invitational tournament, the Cedarville University Women's Tennis Team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Greenville for their thirteenth straight victory and record sixteenth win for the season. The doubles teams won all of two points in a match that set up a meeting with Division I powerhouse Gardner-Webb who snapped their thirteen game winning streak. The Lady Jackets went on to blank Emmanuel 9-0 and Piedmont 7-0 to place third at the NCCAA Invitational Tournament. Freshman Kristi Shuck, senior Amy Gregory, and sophomore Carrie Hartman earned All-tournament Honors. At the beginning ofthe season, Coach Pam Johnson said,"We're excited to see what happens," and the Lady Jackets compiled a spectacular season. They earned a ranking of23' in NAIA and tallied 13 9-0 victories. In the AMC,they posted a 10-0 record as they won the conference easily. No Senior Amy Gregory shows her opponents good sportsmanship after each match. 62 Athletics team in the conference managed more than three points against them. Overall, the team worked their way to an 18-5 record, which set a new standard for wins. Shuck stepped in as a freshman and took over the number one position on the team. She posted an impressive 15-4 record, playing against other schools' top players. Senior Amy Gregory completed her career with a 17-3 record in the number two spot. She went 51-19 in her stay at Cedarville University. Carrie Hartman went undefeated for the first two months ofthe season before losing to Division I foe Gardner Web at the NCCAA Invitational tournament. She finished the season 18-3. With only one senior graduating and five ofthe top six players returning, Coach Johnson's team looks to set new records next year. The future looks very bright for the defending American Mideast Conference Champions. Junior Jen Roman stands ready for anything that comes her way.
