Kimberly Edlund types out her judgment as a justice on the International Criminal Tribunal while at Model United Nations. Rebekah Pemberton and Nicholas Walton show College Republican support for Suzanne Terrell as she runs for the open Senate seat in Louisiana. PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS Professional organizations existed to provide students with training, seminars and experience crucial to their careers. Professional organiza- tions for various academic disciplines from Engineering to English helped students prepare for the future. The CU chapter ofSTC held regular meetings with speakers in the technical communication field, tried to involve its members in research and projects, and attended its national convention. Reserve Officers Training Core(ROTC)prepared military officers for careers in the armed services. The Air Force and Army ROTC developed future leaders morally, mentally,and physically, while imbuing them with the ideals of duty, honor,and courage,so they could up take leadership roles in their country. The Cedarville University Emergency Medical Services provided the campus with pre-hospital medical assistance. The highly-trained student staff remained on call through rain, sleet, snow and chapels to assist students with medical difficulties. Led by captain Kimberly Edlund,the Model UN team participated in the Dayton Model United Nations Conference, debating important issues that are now before UN committees. Performing well for the second year in a row,the Cedarville team took home six awards, including two first place plaques. The Forensics and Debate teams also competed all over the country and for the second year in a row,the Forensics team won first place in the state of Ohio. Forensics and Debate encouraged students to articulate their thoughts and defend their ideas. Other professional organizations included the Student Court,Tau Beta Pi, MENC,CUCR and many others. These organizations allowed students to interact with peers in their majors and with professionals in their fields, gaining valuable knowledge and experience that will help them in their careers. 104 ORGANIZATIONS Dorothy Blake helps her organization, Delta Pi Sigma, make cookies for faculty as part of a service project.
