SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS Social organizations played an important part of college life for many Cedarville students. They offered the opportunity to meet with other students who had similar interests and get to know them in an informal and relaxed setting. Students for Religious Freedom was one of these organizations. They held various meetings, rallies, and coin drives supporting fellow Chris- tians who faced persecution. "We were dedicated to prayerfully and tangibly supporting the suffering church world-wide. We strived to raise awareness concerning our brothers and sisters in Christ," Sarah Frohmberg said. The Intercollegiate Council encouraged students to break out of Cedarville's campus to meet with students from the University of Dayton, Antioch College, Central States University, and other local schools. The group hosted Relay for Life to raise money for cancer research, and they helped put together Rock the Vote at Antioch. Many students fluent in Spanish met regularly to encourage each other to exercise their Spanish talent. "The Spanish Club exists to provide students with opportunities to use and expand their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture and to serve God by reaching out to the Hispanic community," Matt Bonin said. "Tau Delta kappa worked to bring honor students together for fun and fellowship and kept them in touch after the freshman class sequence. We held the 30 Hour Famine for the campus each spring and sponsored forums to encourage discussion of current issues," group leader Elizabeth Zeron said. Honor students created a unique bond with each other after their rigorous freshman course load. "Social organizations were a great way to meet people and serve others in the process,"junior Rachel Althaus said.
