2003 Miracle Yearbook

Under head coach Ryan Bowen,the Jackets' golf team closed the season with an eighth place finish at the AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament. Senior Craig Bennington finished his college career tying a season low posting at 74 and a total 3 round score of238. Highlighting the season was back-to-back first and third place finishes at the Central State Invitational and the Urbana Invitational. At the Central State Invita- tional, Craig Bennington,Ben Foreman'and Aaron McDivitt all posted scores of under 77,defeating Urbana and Wilberforce. Ben Foreman posted his lowest score of the season of75 and a 78 to lead the Jackets at the Urbana Invitational. Only host Urbana and Walsh beat the Jackets at the competitive meet. Throughout the season, the team grew in skill and mental toughness,as well as developing together as a team. Craig Bennington commented,"We really worked a lot on what God could teach us through a round of competitive golf...whether playing gobd or playing bad,golf is really a mental game with many things that God can teach you through it. I would not trade the competitiveness ofthe game or the awesome relationships with the guys for anything." At the end of the season, Bennington finished with the top average with 79.9, followed closely by Tom Simon with an 82and Ben Foreman at 82.3. Tom Simon, a four-year varsity letter winner,received the All American Scholar-Athlete award for the second straight year. Craig Bennington also received the Donald E.
