FAMILY BONDING Kathryn Hayes sings confidently to a full audience of students and their families. As Parents' Weekend approached, parents and siblings of Cedarville students baked fresh batches ofcookies, packed their bags,and piled into their minivans to visit students starving for food and attention. With hopes ofspending a weekend with their college students, parents arrived late Thursday night and early Friday morning to discover iftheir children actually spent any time in class. Besides the normal agenda ofclasses, the University offered a variety ofactivities for students and parents to enjoy together. The weekend opened with the traditional Honors' Day Chapel,awarding students for their hard work in specific fields ofstudy. On Friday night,the music department presented its annual Pops Concert, offering a wide selection ofpopular music as a treat for the ears. A highlight ofthe concert,the Women's Chorale sang a love song while every member held a picture ofDr. Dixon. Another musical performance for the weekend included the Colman and Clevenger: CommandPerformance!for the delight ofthe Saturday night crowd. Colman and Clevenger began their performance dressed as monks and then later transferred into blue sequined tuxedos. Amid the smoke-filled chapel and the upbeat music,the event offered a spectacular finish that dazzled the eyes and amazed the ears. Those fortunate enough to possess play tickets enjoyed the highly popular performances ofA Midsummer Night's Dream. The highly talented and creative cast ofthe play offered an enjoyable time not quickly forgotten. Amidst all the activities planned by the University, parents and students still found time to spend quality time together. Hours spent hanging out in the game room,enjoying the good weather,and having the opportunity to eat out on their parents' tab aided in the times offamily bonding. From on campus students to parents traveling hundreds of miles, Parents' Weekend came as a treat for all involved. SPRING SEMESTER 285
