2003 Miracle Yearbook

MAGICAL EVENING Junior and senior men worked for months trying to convince their sweethearts to attend the Junior/Senior Banquet with them at the Millennium Hotel in Cincinnati. In turn, their dates spent hours planning and preparing for the wonderful evening. They shopped for dresses, shoes, purses, andjewelry to impress their suitors and spent hours practicing hair and promenading in dresses for all their friends. The boys found tuxes and spent hours in line waiting for flowers at Cedarville's only flower store. When the evening finally arrived, the females poked and pinned boutonnières, while their male counterparts delicately placed beautiful corsages on their arms. The clouds threatened to pour on the event, but the rain held offallowing time for friends and family to snap hundreds ofpictures inside and outdoors. After pictures and pleasantries, the boys escorted their princesses to their carriages and joined the parade traveling under dark, overcast skies to Cincinnati. Two by two,the couples entered the Millennium Hotel and took the slow ride up the escalator to the Senior Reception. They mingled and congratulated each other until the hosts announced that dinner was served. After an elegant meal ofchicken and vegetables,everyone hiked to the other side ofthe Millennium hotel to where Phil Keagy waited. He came on stage to loud applause and began his performance in an informal,joking style. He kept the crowd laughing when he was not playing, and when he was,they sat astounded at his talent. He played for two hours and tried to stop, but a standing ovation brought on an encore. He played original music as well as older classics. After the concert, students sat down to enjoy desert while they marveled at Mr. Keagy's ability. Following cheesecake and coffee, everyone mingled,talking and taking a few final pictures. Slowly,couples began disappearing from the Millen- nium Hotel for the long voyage back to campus as the magical evening came to a close. 294 SPRING SEMESTER Couples enjoy the opportunity to dress up. take pictures, and spend time together during this special event.
