NAIA Hlite 8Appearance Cedarville University men's basketball capped off a 27-9 overallrecord withanAMCSouth Division championship and a trip totheEliteEightatthe2004NAIA Division II NationalTournament. The team tied a school record for mostwins in aseason,and Coach Ray Slagle repeated as AMC Coach of the Year. Sixstraightearlyseason wins, includinga majorupset victory at NCAA Division I Wright State, bumpedCedarvilleintothenumber two spot nationally. Leading the team in points this season(460) was NAIA Division II All- AmericanHonorableMentionJosh Gast. Hiscareernumberofthree- pointers(320)is the most by any Cedarville player. Said Gast, "When you haveagoodteam you alwaysseem like you are looking ahead at the big picture and what goals you could possibly reach. I've learnedjustto relax and take one day at a time." Mugabe Thomasjoined Gast on the All-American Honorable Mention list and led the team in points per game (14.6). Greg Guiler set a school record for most consecutive games played (123) and became the school's all-time assist leader (535). Seniors Guiler, Gast, Barry Chamberlin,AndreyArkhipov,and Brandon Lee all completed their illustrious careers at Cedarville. AnthonyDelimpoconcluded, "We're a family offourteen — a familythatneverquitsandalways responds to adversity. Our close bond with one another is one of the reasons we were great this year."
