One Last Blast The lights dimmed as giant plasma screens counted down the remaining seconds until the show;the air was thick with balloon-frisbees and anticipation as Cedarville students crowded together in theJeremiahChapel.Eighto'clock arrived, the lights went out, and an incredible "glow-stick"routineopened Elliv 2004. The Elliv Awards, a Cedarville Universitytradition,broughttogethermany talented students who entertained the campus with exciting song-and-dance numbers. Interspersed with the performances were presentations of awardsinvariouscategories,includingBest Athlete, Best Musician and Best Alpha Film Video. Students dressed up in formal attire or costumes,savoring the chance to stay out late and enjoy fun and fellowship. In the words of Freshman Joe Holecko, "Ellivwasanawesomeexperience—anight ofrelaxingentertainmentthatpulledstudents together to sharealast memorable moment before finals give way to the summer. It was a brilliant concept." Elliv wasthe mostelaborateeventofthe year. The amazing technical feats that went on during the ceremony impressed sophomore Keith Siders: "It was a truly stimulatingexperience.Theyputonareally professional show." SGA invested a considerable amountoftime and money in Elliv. Dozensofvolunteers worked together to ensure thatthe presentation wasofasuperb quality. Oneofthe mostenjoyable aspects ofElliv was the interaction between faculty and students. The Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to Pastor Rohm,demonstrated the affection felt by the student body for their resident pastor. A closing "Beatles" number featuring Dr. Brown and several professors was fun for all. At the end ofthe show,students gathered outside around candle-lit tables, enjoying a sumptuous dessert under the stars while a bandentertainedwithlive music.Allin all,Elliv 2004 was the perfect end to a great year. KristenZion,KarenPoch,JessaFausch,and Bonnie Ladwig perform "Leviticus" as an encore to the success ofRuth,the Musical. MattKauffmanandPeterDryerperform"I've GotanEllivticket,"basedonCharlieandthe Chocolate Factory's "I've Got a Golden Ticket." A ticketto Filly is much better! `NSync,made up ofJoseph(Nate)Leykam, Caleb Rowe,Ben Futoran,Peter Dryer,and Rob O'Brien,dance to aremix of"Bye,Bye, Bye"and"TellMe,TellMeBaby." 284 Spring
