c_76/2Mo Facukv Member of the Year As Autumn Howe, SAAB president, noted,Dr.Dewhurst deserved the Faculty ofthe YearAward"notjustfor whathe has done,butfor the lives he has affected: and he's affected plenty oflives." Dr.Dewhurst,ProfessorofMechanical Engineering,hastaughtatCedarville since 1996.HeisagraduateofCornellUniversity and worked at the University of Maine prior to joining the Cedarville University faculty. Engineering students knew Dr. Dewhurstfor his excellentteaching,which theycommonlycalled challenging yetfun. His peers recognized him for the same accomplishments. One said that he has a "uniqueabilitytotakeacomplicatedcourse and make it enjoyable as well as understandable." Students also viewed Dr. Dewhurst as a professor whose dedication to teaching and students went beyond what was expected ofhim. Rumors spread this year ofhim staying up late to finish a lab set-up forhisstudents.HeadvisedtheSolarSplash competition and has joined an intramural soccerteam with his students. He was also known outside the department for hosting an annual New England day and a Maine night for students from the East. Dr.Dewhurst set an example ofa man who loves hisfamily,church,and school.
