Every year at Cedarville, many seniors prepare and present some sort of capstone project with their major.As students finished their projects and saw the light at the end ofthe tunnel ofthe college career,they reflected on their senior capstone experiences.Jack Kehl,a biology/pre-med major commented,"My seminar was a great opportunity for me to research a contemporary genetic technolo that will impact stem cell biology both scientifically and ethically!' Likewise, Kristin Dudreck said that her senior viola recital gave her experience for her future plans - teach private lessons while living in Chicago.Senior molecular and cellular biology major Eric Robinette echoed Dudreck's sentiments in that he felt that his senior seminar gave him the opportunity"to get an excellent idea of what research will be like at the graduate level." Many students also realized ways in which they could have improved their projects. Ashley Hunter,a senior organizational communications major,said that she could have been more effective with her seminar had she better understood statisti( before analyzing her statistical results. Meanwhile,additional students participated in extra-curricular organizations and worked diligent') on projects throughout the year. In particular,the Integrated Business Core(IBC)developed, marketed, and sold spirit towels and a waterproof blanket.Junior Amanda Rill said,"The IBC was a unique learning experience that gave me an opportunity to practically apply the things I was learning in the classroom. The two companies that participated were able to raise about $3,000for the Children's Rescue Center in Springfield,OH,and we also donated over 250 hours of service to that organization." After finishing all of their projects,seniors and other students collectively breathed a sigh of relief and looked back with a sense of accomplishment. Flutist Emily VanDette performs a Junior Recital to give herself performance experience before her senior year. The recital wentflawlessly,and Emily was congratulated by proud friends and family. I Josh Townsend and Joel Peterson work atthe Children's Rescue Center in Springfield, where the total profits from IBC sales,as well as hours of labor,are contributed every year. n The team ofCaleb McCollim,Leslie Myers,and Ann Felix express their joy after a successful day of sales of Undercover blankets,one ofthis year's IBC products.
