Also, Ray Hutchison,Regional Director of Serving In Missions and Phil Renicks,Vice President of ACSI for International Ministries, spoke during the morning services. In the evening,Dr. David Stevens,Executive Director ofthe Christian Medical and Dental Association, spoke about medical missions and his harrowing experiences in Africa, and especially in war-torn Somalia. Hefocused on having compassion for others, and seeing individuals the way God seesthem. Sophomore Scott Kordic said,"I enjoyed Dr.Stephens'stories.They were refreshingly original and heartfelt...The best part about Dr.Stephens'messages, though, was that he did not make me feel asthough I had to go overseas. His overarching passion was reaching all people with the gospel." Sophomore Sharon Waltz agreed: "It's always encouraging to see how God sustains and uplifts the missionaries doing His work around the world. In particular,Thursday evening's message concerning medical missions in Somalia inspired me to pray regularly for those who hunger for both food and the hope of salvation in Christ." Another major themefocused upon during the week was that offreely offering one's life to God. The last evening had a large turnoutfrom people who were willing to make commitments to serve God wherever He calls them. Junior Bridgett Horton says,"Prior to the missions conference, I was already interested in becoming a missionary in Africa, but listening to Dr.Stevens gave me a huge interest in medical missions and that is an avenue that I am considering pursuing:' It seems this year's Missions Conference inspired individuals to follow God's leading -wherever it may be. His testimony and stories displayed Christ's message better than anY three-point sermon could have:'
