2007 Miracle Yearbook
r orty years ago, under the guidance of Dr. Murdoch, the Alpha Chi Talent Show became an annual tradition. The"Men OfService"brought the student body yet another entertaining show, complete with music, magic cards, and a talking dummy. The show began with guitar looping byfreshman Sam Roberto, surprising those who didn't know how much one could do with just a guitar and some technology. Later, everyone was impressed(and confused)with senior Josh Gelser's card magic. Junior Taylor Storey and sophomore Daniel Zimmerman shared their songwriting skills with"My Hometown"and"Crush,"while sophomore Brittany Beals and junior Kelsey Gilsdorf brought us a classic, singing"The Sound of Music:' The winner of most original act was sophomore Rachel Martinez, who introduced us to her charming ventriloquist dummy"JR,"and winner ofthe best overall act ' as sophomore Andrew Costerisan, singing "Will You?"- a song he wrote based o conversations with homeless people in San Francisco. A special part of this particular show was the featured closing act:#1 R&B drummer,Zoro. Having played for people like Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Marie Presley, this man was definitely NOT lacking in the talent arena, but Zoro didn't only demonstrate drumming skills but shared his heart for God and people.Senior Josh Townsend,Alpha Chi vice president and producer ofthe show, stated,"It was a great privilege to have with us Zoro the Drummer, who brought to the stage a mix ofdrumming styles never seen before,as well as a gospel outreach that left no one in the audience unaffected. He is a man of Jesus Christ, and it's neat to see the passion and love he hasfor reaching the world for Christ:' The show succeeded in being both thought provoking and entertaining- the Alpha Chi tradition will definitely continue to be an enjoyable part of Cedarville life for years to come. A Freshman Sam Roberto shares his guitar looping. He commented,"My favorite part was heading out on stage and starting tojam with my equipment. When I walked out on stage, I was nervous, but once I started playing,it was all just fun!"
