Accounting (ACCT)
ACCT-6300 Accounting for Business Executives
3 hours
Accounting serves the needs of both external and internal
decision-makers as they assess, measure, communicate,
evaluate, and change the financial position of an organization.
We will discuss the theory and skills needed to interpret basic
financial statements, considering a variety of standards, including
GAAP, the AICPA and IMA codes of ethics, SEC requirements,
and governmental requirements and how they align with the
conceptual framework of accounting theory. We will also discuss
cost behavior, costing systems, budgeting and variance analysis to
support operational decision-making and the balanced scorecard
to support strategic decision-making.
Biblical Languages (BEBL)
BEBL-5100 Intensive Elementary Greek
6 hours
Intensive Elementary Greek is the initial course for learning
to read the Greek New Testament, accomplished in the most
concentrated manner offered by the University. The student
will learn to reproduce the Greek alphabet, pronounce Greek
words, translate frequently used Greek words, identify Greek
parts of speech and their inflected forms, understand the basic
relationships between Greek parts of speech, and translate
extended passages of the Greek New Testament while receiving
minimal assistance from reference materials.
BEBL-5200 Intensive Elementary Hebrew
6 hours
A study of the theory and practice of biblical interpretation.
Attention will be given to the roles of author, reader, and text in
order to move from text to life with a properly based authority and
confidence.
BEBL-6110 Greek Grammar
3 hours
Greek grammar is the second course in the sequence for
learning to read the Greek New Testament. The student will master
the content of the initial course, Elementary Greek. In addition, the
student will learn Greek syntax, in other words, the ways in which
the different parts of speech and clauses relate to each other.
Prerequisites: one year of undergraduate Biblical Greek or BEBL-
5100 Intensive Elementary Greek.
Biblical Education — General Studies (BEGS)
BEGS-5110 Bible Survey for Professionals

This course provides a comprehensive perspective or “big
picture” of the Bible. Students will develop and apply inductive
Bible study methods and principles for developing theology while
increasing their Bible content knowledge and awareness of Bible
study tools. Students will strengthen their biblical worldview as it
relates to their field, enabling them to assist colleagues, parents,
and students in applying biblical principles.
BEGS-5120 Foundations of Biblical Theology
2 hours
Designed to introduce the student to a Christian worldview
created within a biblical framework, this course addresses the
definition, function, formation, and evaluation of worldview. Then
Christian responses and applications will be developed from a
survey of biblical theology with emphasis on the teaching of the
Bible, God, man, and salvation. Through course assignments, the
student will be able to use the skill of worldview development to
examine basic issues in education as well as in life.
Biblical Studies — New Testament
BENT-6110 Greek Exegesis
3 hours
This course is an exegetical study of the Greek text of
Colossians, emphasizing the book’s teaching on the sufficiency of
Christ for the salvation and life of the believer. The course provides
the opportunity for students to develop their own exegetical skills
in working with the Greek text of the New Testament and to grow
in their ability to preach and teach expository messages on the
Bible. Prerequisites: BEBL-6110 Greek Grammar.
Biblical Studies — Old Testament
BEOT-6110 Exposition of OT Book
3 hours
This course examines the historical, literary, and theological
features of an Old Testament book focusing not only on this
content, but also on methodological approaches in interpreting the
literature.
Biblical Studies — Practical Theology (BEPT)
BEPT-6110 Pastoral Care and Counseling
3 hours
This course introduces the principles, techniques, approaches,
and tools used in the pastoral ministry of care and counseling.
Biblical, theological, and ethical concerns in pastoral care ministry
are discussed and an overview of common counseling concerns is
presented. It also considers various contemporary approaches to
counseling and care in the church. These may include professional
counseling programs, recovery ministries, discipleship care, and
leadership of lay counseling ministries, among many others. The
course format includes lecture, video, role play, and discussion.
BEPT-6210 Pastoral leadership and Ethics
3 hours
Pastoral leadership is primarily a function of the Holy Spirit’s
work through a pastor. The Spirit usually does not override the
personality or leadership style of the pastor in this process.
Therefore, a pastor’s personality, leadership style, personal
integrity, and ministry philosophy are vital to effectiveness in the
pastorate. This course will guide the student to critically interact
with the Bible, academic research, and the writings of seasoned
practitioners in the fields of pastoral leadership and Christian
ethics.
BEPT-6310 Ministry of Teaching and Preaching
3 hours
This course is designed for the student to develop a philosophy,
strategic approach and working model for teaching and preaching.
Emphasis is placed on the preparation and presentation of
lessons and sermons appropriate and effective for particular
audiences and contexts.
BEPT-6410 The Missional Church
3 hours
This course provides a study of important topics relevant to
leading a congregation in mission ministry including biblical
theology of mission, definition of mission, the missional church,
mission policy, mission administration in the local church, and
short-term mission involvement.
BEPT-6510 Ministry Colloquium and Field Experience 1 hour
An introduction to the practice of pastoral ministry, drawing from
a variety of ministry practitioners. The student will participate in
regular ministry experiences, including one semester in a cross-
cultural context.
BEPT-6610 Spiritual Formation Cohort
0 hour
Students will investigate the history and theology of spiritual
formation, assess his or her current spiritual development, develop
a personal plan for personal growth into Christlike character and
conduct, and develop the daily practice of spending time with God
that produces effective lifelong ministry.
BEPT-6620 Discipleship Practicum
0 hour
Students will practice discipleship within a biblical framework
that is missional, transformational, and applicable to different
cultural contexts. This study promotes a lifelong commitment to
Christlike maturity and spiritual reproduction.
