Alumnotes, Fall 2015

A L UMNOT E S Fall 2015 Fall is my favorite time of year. Not just because we finally get some relief from the hot and humid summers here in Cedar- ville, but because the fall is always the season that brings students back to campus — as well as our alumni! Do you remember your Getting Started Weekend as a freshman? The excitement? The anxiety? Wondering how you were ever going to get all your stuff in that residence hall room? On August 14–16, more than 800 freshmen and nearly 100 transfer students moved in to start their Cedarville experience. Do you remember how you felt on move-in day? The excitement, anxiety, and joy was probably pretty similar. We are praying God does great things in the lives of these students. This year, we invited alumni to help this year’s freshman class move in during Getting Started Weekend. Thank you to those of you who came back. It was wonderful to see alumni moving freshmen girls into Printy and calming the hearts of moms who were leaving their sons in Lawlor. Caleb ’01 and Tisha (Tapp) Smith ’01 traveled from Wisconsin to help. “To be back at Getting Started after 14 years was such an encouraging experience for Tisha and me,” Caleb recounted. “From the stories we heard from the moms and dads dropping off their 18-year-olds, to the conversations we had with many RAs and RDs, to the opportunities we had to reconnect with staff and faculty, it was a weekend filled with strong reminders of God’s faithfulness to His people.” As we were going to print, Homecoming 2015 was getting underway October 2–3. We always are excited to see so many alumni reconnect with one another and interact with students on campus. We look forward to sharing highlights from homecoming in the winter issue of Alumnotes, as well as announcing the alumni award winners. If you weren’t able to make it for homecoming, consider visiting campus another time during the year! Call us at 1-888-CEDARVILLE and we can help set something up. Can’t come to campus but you are connecting with Cedarville friends around the world? Make sure to tag #friendsforlife in your photo, and you may be featured in Cedarville Magazine or on our Instagram page. Go Jackets!
