331 Years Of Marriage
A
special tribute was paid to the
"Fabulous Ferguson"family at the
Cedarville High School Reunion in
October 1995. Each of the six
Ferguson couples has been married
over 50 years. Together they total 331 years of
marriage! Four of the Ferguson family members
attended Cedarville College—Raymond and Edith
Ferguson Spracklen'26N have celebrated 67

Ferguson '40 have enjoyed 54 years of marriage;
Carl Ferguson '35,and his wife, Grace,celebrated
55 years of marriage in 1995; and Willard'37N
and Florence Ferguson Tobin '41 have also been
married for 55 years. The Cedarville College
Alumni Association wishes them many more
happy years together!
Kyle Serves Community
r. Donald F. Kyle'28 remains an
example of service to the Cedarville
community and Cedarville College.
For 53 years he served as the area's
physician,
receiving much
recognition from
the community.In
1976,the Kyle
Medical Center
was named for
him,honoring his
dedication to the
health profession.
Dr. Kyle's
contributions to
Cedarville College
are many
including service
as a trustee for
many years. He
served as the
College's
physician for more than 40 years and was named
Alumnus of the Year in 1972 by the Alumni
Association. Dr. Dixon, president of Cedarville
College, states,"Donald Kyle is an individual
with an admirable dedication, an unselfish nature,
and a willingness to give of his time, abilities, and
energy to help his community."

After completing 14 years as director of career services,Dave Gaffner'69 will leave
the Career Services office to assume new responsibilities as assistant director for the
Academic Assistance Center in July 1996.The Academic Assistance Center provides
a range of services including testing and academic advising. Dave has been the first
and only director of Career Services since the office's inception. During this time, he
initiated a wide range of services which help current students and alumni with their
career-related needs. He has also traveled extensively, promoting Cedarville College
among prospective employers. Dave is widely recognized and respected among his
peers. While directing the college's Career Services office, Dave has served as
president ofthe Springfield Human Resource Management Association and the Ohio
Association for School,College,and University Staffing. He has also been the
recipient of the Carl Justice Memorial Award and the Hazel Brown Award,honors
reserved for those who distinguish themselves in the field of personnel administration
and teacher placement.
Dave and his wife, Marlene(Schonscheck '68),live in Cedarville and attend Grace
Baptist Church.Their daughter, Michelle Wood,graduated from Cedarville in 1992.
Children Matt and Bethany currently attend the College.
The U.S. Department of Energy,
Natural Resources Canada,
and Chrysler Canada are
sponsoring the Propane Vehicle
Challenge aimed at improving
both motor vehicle emissions
and fuel economy. Cedarville
College is one of 12 U.S. and
Canadian engineering schools
chosen by competitive proposal
to attack these critical
problems. Each student team
will develop a dedicated
propane gas fuel system for a
1996 Chrysler Town & Country
minivan.The Propane Vehicle
Challenge is a competition
intended to encourage
innovation in propane
technology and provide
hands-on learning for
engineering students.The
challenge will be held in
Windsor, Ontario, Canada
May 30-June 4, 1996.

Shari Read,a senior
nursing major, is the
daughter of Fred and Susan
Swan Read '68 of
Curwensville, Pennsylvania.
Their son, Brian '95N,also
attended Cedarville.
Following Dave Gaffner's move
to Academic Assistance,the
search for a new director of
career services begins
immediately.The Career
Services office provides a wide
variety of career-related
services for students and
alumni. Successful applicants
should possess an advanced
degree or comparable
experience in an appropriate
field.The director must be
capable of interacting
effectively with the three main
constituencies of the Career
Services office—students,
prospective employers, and
faculty. Interested alumni are
encouraged to contact Tim
