Inspire, Winter 1992

Tom Sagraves and Michelle Bellew became one in Christ on August 8, 1992 at Tri-County Baptist Church in West Chester, Ohio. The Sagraves are currently living in Cedarville, Ohio where they are completing their degrees at Cedarville College. Tom is the gymnasium supervisor in the Athletic Center and Michelle is the new student secretary in the Alumni Office. Cedarville College reports another record enrollment this fall with 2,172 students. The class of 593freshmen includes a growing number of top scholars. Ten percent were valedictorians of their high school classes; twenty-seven percent were in the top ten percent of their high school classes; ten are national merit finalists or semi-finalists; and the average.ACT test score for freshmen is 24. Departments enrolling the mostfreshmen were business administration, education, nursing, science and mathematics,and engineering. Greg'87 and Linda Ranger Frye'89 are pleased to announce the birth oftheir daughter, Mackenzie Ann,on January 16, 1992.She weighed 8 lbs. 11 1/2 oz.and measured 21 in. Scott'87 and Janet Garmatter Howder'87 are thrilled to announce the birth oftheir first child, Benjamin Scott, on October 1, 1992. He weighed6lbs.5 oz.and measured 21 in. Scott is a programmer/analyst in the Computer Services Department at Cedarville College. Frank'87N and Kristy Vance Lindaberry'87 are delighted at the birth oftheir first child,Lance Christopher,on February 10, 1992. He weighed 6lbs.8 1/2 oz.and measured 19 1/2 in. Brian'88 and Valerie Jones Reebel'87 are pleased to announce the birth of their first child,Eric Bradley,on August 21, 1992. Eric weighed 6lbs. 10 1/2 oz. and measured 20 1/2 in. Jeff'87 and Jennifer Lenhart VeStrand'89 are the happy parents oftheir first child, Brooke Ashleigh,born on July 28, 1992.She weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz.and measured 21 in. John'88 and April Banks Bercaw'88 are excited about the birth of Andrew Ryan on December 2, 1991.Drew weighed 7lbs.8 oz. and measured 19 1/2 in. John is working for the Internal Revenue Service in Dayton, Ohio. Jeanne McCarrell Jackson'88 and her husband,David, are the happy parents ofGrace Helen born on May 5, 1992.She weighed 8 lbs.5 oz. and joins her sister, Hannah,2 1/2. David hasjust begun a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. The Jacksons live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Lisa Ford Johnson'88 and her husband,Mark,are happy to announce the birth oftheir daughter,Sarah Grace,on March 5, 1992. Sarah weighed 6lbs.5 1/2 oz. and measured 19 in. Gwen Price Lochtefeld'88 and her husband,Vernon, are the proud parents of Michael Jacob,born on May 18, 1992. He was 8 lbs.5 oz. and 22 1/2 in. Michaeljoins brother Gabriel,2 1/2, and sister Rachel, 13 months. Dan graduated from Grace Theological Seminary with a M.Div.in 1986 and an M.A.in biblical counseling in 1988.He and his wife,Donna,were married in 1986 and have two children,Priscilla Anna,5, and Lydia Maria,2. Scott'86 and Jane Romig Brooker'86 are going to be working full-time with Athletes in Action under Campus Crusade in the area oftrack and field. The Brookers live in Cincinnati,Ohio. Nancy La Bonte'86 is a new missionary with Association of Baptist for World Evangelism (ABWE).She has not yet determined her field destination, but she will be serving as a nurse. Cami McGraw'86 is a missionary appointee with ABWEto Spain.Cami graduated from Cedarville with a degree in elementary education and will be teaching fifth and sixth grade at the Evangelical Christian Academy. DorcasSommers'87 left for West Germany September 3, 1992.She is teaching sixth grade at Black Forest Academy for two years with TEAM. Lynnette Rice'90 is an appointee with Baptist Mid- Missions to the Central African Republic. She is on deputation and hopes to leave for Africa in June 1993. Bobby'90 and Sara Sweetland Hile '92 are new missionaries with ABWE to South Africa. Their sending church is First Baptist Church in Ottawa, Ohio. Ozeas'91N and June HynesDa Silva'91N are going to Brazil as missionary teachers at ACLIA,a school for missionary children,in Manuas. Manuas is located along the Amazon River in North Central Brazil. David C.Rife'22died on July 14, 1992 in Clewiston, Florida. We extend our sympathy to his wife, Marguerite,and family. Paul D.Bowers'76 died November 5, 1991 in Columbus, Ohio.We extend our sympathy to his mother,Mrs.William Bowers,and family. George Engelmann'76H died on October 25, 1992 at his home in Burton,Michigan. Mr.Engelmann was a current member and former chairman ofthe Board of Trustees at Cedarville College. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Vecelia,and his family. William E.Anderson'77 died after a lengthy illness on September 27, 1992 at his parents home in West Springfield, Pennsylvania.He worked for the Paragon Publishing Company in New York City. We extend our sympathy to his parents and family,including his sister, Kathy Anderson'89. Diane Renee Jones'93died October 30, 1992 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 42 west of Cedarville. Diane was a senior biology/secondary education major from Burton, Michigan and was active in Open Heirs and Delta Pi Sigma,The College Family held a memorial service in chapel on November 2.
