alumnotes | News Jan (DuBois) Hasselbring ’67 is in her 46th year as church secretary at Milan Baptist Church. This has been, and still is, a part-time job where she greatly enjoys serving God by serving the church family. Shirley (Rocher) Carpenter ‘72 completed 30 years of teaching at Ocala Christian Academy, in Ocala, Florida, in May 2016. A highlight for her has been having her daughter, Nicole (Carpenter) Lovelady ‘02 , join her as a teacher there and having her husband become the secondary principal. She praises the Lord for these years of teaching and telling children about Jesus! Ray ‘75 and Peggy (Wagner) Warwick ‘74 have returned home from serving in Zambia, Africa. They are thankful for the opportunity Ray had to serve with ELI, training national pastors and educators in third world countries. Cal ’77 and Deb (Jackson) Searles ’80 co-authored a children’s picture titled Jesus Saves. AreYou Saved? The book walks children through the Gospel story, explaining how Christ’s shed blood pays the price for our sin. You can purchase the book from graceacrespress.com. Cal and Deb have served the Lord in the local church for 38 years and currently live in Elyria, Ohio. George Gibbs ’89 is beginning his first two- year term on the New Haven, West Virginia, town council. He continues to work as a Unit Operator for American Electric Power. Bethany (Britt) Wakefield ’92 , with much support from her husband, Michael ‘92, and their three children, in December 2016 completed the required coursework for her Master of Arts in Spanish translation and translation studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bethany is praising God for His provision and leading and is excited for her next adventure. Gerry ‘92 and Kim (Wisdom) Horton ‘90 , live in Keystone Heights, Florida, where Gerry is Children’s Pastor at First Baptist Church and Kim recently began a new career as an instructor of HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association) in their local high school. Bill ‘80 and Elaine (Hayworth) Baldwin ‘81 have lived in Richland, Washington, for almost five years. Bill is Vice President of Clinic Operations for Lourdes Health. Elaine is the published author of If One Falls and Where Darkness Lies . They enjoy serving in church, golf, bowling, and travel. They have three grown children. Tim Burel ‘82 has officially retired from his Spanish and social studies teaching career, but still teaches Spanish and U.S. history part time at the Regional Alternative School based at Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois. He recently returned from his third short-term missions trip to Honduras and has also served in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala. Melissa (Marshall) Nicastro ‘86 is the founder of a coaching company called Discover Your Path, which helps individuals with life, family, and career decisions. She helps people understand how God put His individual thumbprint and design on them and what that means for how to live out their life, family, and career. Renee (Bowen) Peterson ‘87 earned her Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland, in May 2016. NEWS Cedarville University | Spring 2017
