News | alumnotes Julie McFadden ’94 is in her 17th year of missionary service with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) in South Africa. She enjoys teaching children, discipling women, and organizing the music ministry at the Agape Baptist Church in George, Western Cape. Joe Slavens ’94 and his wife and three daughters (ages 11, 9, and 6) moved to Perth, Australia, in July 2016. He’s currently finishing his Ph.D. in higher education leadership. In addition, he serves as a Research Associate with Race and Justice in Higher Education (rjhe.org) and as a Boarding Supervisor for gifted and talented Australian high school students. Dustin Wray Hockensmith ’95 had his original song My Friend covered by legendary Christian artist Mike Roe (77’s, Lost Dogs). It was released as a bonus track on Mike’s recent live CD ( Gothic ), released in July. It also appeared as a bonus track on Dustin’s most recent CD, It’s Time , released in 2015. Dustin has released four CDs. Jayne Russell ’98 returned to Ukraine in November 2016 to begin her fifth term of ministry. She will now focus on missions training and curriculum development for children to hear God’s heart for missions. A. Alexander Beaujean ’99 co-authored the book Latent Variable Models: An Introduction to Factor, Path, and Structural Equation Analysis (5th edition) with John Loehlin (University of Texas-Austin). It is a graduate-level statistics textbook published by Routledge. Donnie Ray Woodyard ’99 relocated to Columbus, Ohio, in May 2016, where he serves as the EMS Compact Director at the National Registry of EMTs. Previously, he was the State EMS Director in Louisiana. He also is a second lieutenant and pilot with the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary/Civil Air Patrol. Jennifer Castellani ’02 graduated with her Ph.D. in educational leadership – higher education administration in May 2016 from the University of Dayton. Peter ’02 and Rachel (Richardson) Springirth ’02 are raising Nathan (9), Elisabeth (7), Levi (5), and Madelyn (3). Pete was recently deployed as the Director of Logistics for Joint Task Force Bravo, Honduras. He is currently serving as the Commander for the 914th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York. Dan Cross ’02 joined the faculty of Geneva College as an Associate Professor of Physics. He resides in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Karin, and two sons, Miles (5) and Andrew (3).
