1981-1982 Cedarville College Annual Report

OUR BEGINNINGS Established in 1887 by the Re– formed Presbyterian Church, Cedarville College has followed a liberal arts tradition which has stressed ideals and conduct exemplifying Christian character. In 1953, the institution was trans– ferred to the trustees of the Bap– tist Bible Institute of Cleveland, and Cedarville College became a Baptist college of liberal arts. In its first year as a Baptist school, four majors were offered, taught by 10 faculty members. There were 100 students enrolled. Rev. James T. Jeremiah, pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio, was chosen as president and provided leadership for the next 25 years.
