The new p l a n calls for'a gradual step-up to depart­ mentalization of school such as c a r r i e d on in the high school grades. Seventh graders would con­ tinue through the "self-con­ tained classroom "--one tea-, cher for the e n t i r e grade, teaching all subjects. Eighth grade teaching would be b r o k e n into "block of time" periods with a group­ ing of some subjects. Then, in the n i n t h grade, pupils would go into die complete departmentalization. Monday at her E. Xenia st. home at the age of 80. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. Born Aug. 18,1876 in Clin­ ton Coun t y , Mrs. Shinkle was the daughter of the late Byron and Martha Day Jones. She was married to George Shinkle on Christmas Day, 1906, and the couple ce le ­ b r a t e d their 50th wedding anniversary last Christmas. Three c h i l d r e n survive. They are Elwood, at home; Mrs. Martha Ashbaugh, Yel- Ed Rckering Speaker Ed P i c k e r i n g was guest speaker Tuesday at the Build­ ers' C i r c l e of the Second United Presbyterian Church of Xenia. Ed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pickering, of Plymouth Rd., near Jamestown, was an International Farm Youth Exchange delegate last year. He spoke of his experiences on farms in Isreal. low Sp r i ng s , and Wayne S h i n k l e of New Carlisle. There are’also three grand­ sons and one granddaughter. Three brothers, Sam Jones of Higgensport; Joseph of Day- ton, and G e o r g e J ones of Springfield, also survive. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Powers Funeral Home . Rev. W.R. Go l d e n of the C h ur ch of Christ will officiate and bur­ ial will be in J ame s t own cemetery.
