Additionally, BMI has been shown to under predict health risk for older individuals with decreased muscle mass and excess body fat. BMI is calculated by dividing one’s weight in kilograms (kg) by the square of one’s height in meters (m) [BMI = wt (kg) / ht2 (m)]. Table 3.10. provides the different BMI classifications.
