ALUMNI IMPACT: THE PROFOUND IMPACT OF A SMALL ACT OF KINDNESS Catching up with alumni can be a heartwarming and enlightening experience, as it offers a glimpse into the diverse paths that individuals have taken since their time at Cedarville. Alumni have embraced their education and experiences at Cedarville and are now equipped to seize opportunities to profess their faith to others, both through their words and actions, like Jodie Lee Patterson ’90. Living in California, Jodie Lee encountered an opportunity to live out her life’s purpose: to spread the love of Jesus, one person at a time. One day, while traveling through the busy Los Angeles suburbs, Jodie crossed paths with Richard, a young man who had no place to go and who was living an unsustainable life. Jodie had compassion on him and decided to help him back on his feet, which resulted in him being reunited with his family. To hear more of her story, listen to a recent Cedarville Stories podcast with Jodie Lee: cedarville.edu/JodieLee. MEET THE 2023 JACKETS FOR LIFE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS In 2023, The Jackets for Life Scholarship was established to support students who are second generation or beyond at Cedarville University. This $2,500 scholarship is awarded once a year to one male and one female recipient. Any current undergraduate student who comes from a family of Cedarville alumni and is in good standing with the University is encouraged to apply. Priority consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid office, and to missionary kids. “Receiving donor awards, like The Jackets for Life Scholarship, doesn’t just ease the financial burden on my family and me, but it also serves as a continual reminder of God’s providence and His desire for me to be shaped by Cedarville for His good works. I am being blessed by the faithful stewardship of generous donors who support this scholarship. Because of this opportunity, I am privileged to learn and grow alongside my peers, and from faculty who cultivate Christlikeness and excellence in both our spiritual lives and our disciplines.” –Justice Kandel ’25 “I am a sophomore education student pursuing a dual major degree in special education and elementary education. My mother is a Cedarville nursing alumna and used her degree on the missions field as our family served in South Africa for eight years doing AIDS ministry. I have lived overseas as an MKmy entire life, and this scholarship was such a blessing because I didn’t have the opportunity to work and save much for college before coming to Cedarville. I just wanted to say thank you so much to the donors and let you know that it truly is such a blessing, and I am so grateful to have been one of the recipients!” – Emily Farran ’26 As a Cedarville graduate, you can see the impact that the University has had on your life. You now have the opportunity to bless future Cedarville students and help them enjoy the same life transformation you experienced. The Jackets for Life Scholarship has been established by past reunion classes to provide scholarships for children of alumni to complete their Cedarville University education.
