How crazy is it that exactly 4 years ago

today I came to visit

Cedarville Graduates Contribute to Woodlawn Success

Woodlawn

opened October 16 in theatres

nationwide, earning high marks from fans

and critics alike. The film features the work

of Parker ’14 and Kara (West)

Adams ’14 and Ben Bailey ’09.

The film tells the true story

of a football team’s turning

to Christ and changing a

Birmingham, Alabama, school

overcome by racial strife in the

early 1970s.

Parker Adams handled

special effects for

Woodlawn

,

Kara Adams marketed the

movie, and Bailey was involved

in film colorization, editing,

and special effects.

“Broadcasting and digital media provided

a nice balance of classes with hands-on

technical aspects,” said Parker Adams. “Some

classes made for challenging debates that

allowed me to develop my worldview around

my profession.”

Kara Adams’ interest in

marketing was honed through

her studies in the business

depar tment. “Cedar vi l le

helped give me a passion for

people,” said Kara. “Living in

the community and taking part

in various events on campus

really taught me to go in and

get the job done.”

Bailey added, “The classes

at Cedarville challenged me

in a way that I had never been

challenged and pushed me to

think about the things I was doing and why I

was doing them.”

Music Faculty Members Receive Prestigious Honors

Ind i v i du a l r e c o g n i t i on s

harmonized for two Cedarville

University music faculty

members this fall.

The Fulbright Specialist

Program (FSP) named John

Mortensen, Professor of Music,

to its roster for 2015–16. In

addition, the Ohio Music

Teachers Association (MTA)

named Austin Jaquith, Associate Professor of

Music Theory and Composition, Composer of

the Year.

FSP awards grants to U.S. faculty members

and professors to connect qualified U.S.

professionals with overseas counterparts.

For the Ohio MTA award, Jaquith

submitted several original music compositions

to the Ohio MTA for review. His works

included scores for clarinet, brass, piano, small

ensemble, and orchestra.

As the winner, Ohio MTA commissioned

Jaquith to compose an original piece,

performed at its conference in Columbus,

Ohio, in November. Chet Jenkins ’97,

Studio Instructor for Music and Worship

and saxophonist, and Stephen Estep ’97,

professional piano accompanist, performed

Jaquith’s original piece at the conference.
