Fifty is a magic number this year in the life of Pat Dixon, associate professor of English and wife of Dr. Paul Dixon. On January 10, a huge birthday cake on the college lawn,50 red roses presented in chapel, and many happy returns of the day helped Pat celebrate her 50th birthday. Many more birthdays, Pat! Joni Shearer, 13-year-old daughter of Byron '68 and Libby(Ross '70) Shearer, played the part of Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker,"the winter drama production of the College. Byron, a former member and chairman of the Alumni Council, is assistant to the pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville. Both he and Libby are adjunct professors at the College. Class News '60s Sandi(Welch '64) Harner has been promoted to associate professor of English. She developed the Professional Writing emphasis at Cedarville College and teaches the seven courses in the program. Carol(MikeIs'66)Stevenson has been appointed bursar at Wright State University. Carol is a member of the WSU Organization for Women and the State Bursar's Association. She was the 1988 recipient of the WSU President's Award for Excellence in the service category. Robert Pereira '69 was reelected a Wisconsin state representative to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)for a two-year term. Bob has been the assistant superintendent of Heritage Christian Schools for the past 11 years. '70s Marine Lt. Col. Charles Curcio'70 was pro- moted to his present rank while serving with the First Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. In 1986 Charles earned a master of business ad- ministration degree from Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been in the Marine Corps since 1973. Mark Sigmon '77 completed his master of divinity degree at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. Bryan Waggoner'77 received an award for Out- standing Faithfulness in Youth Ministry at the National Youth Ministries conference held in Elkhart, Indiana, in January 1991. '80s Michael Bresson '80 was recently voted into part- nership in his law firm. Susan(Thompson '82)Zonca received her mas- ter's degree in corporate training from the Univer- sity of Michigan in 1987. She married Christopher Zonca on November 18, 1989, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dearborn, Michigan, and is expecting their first child in July 1991. Susan has been an administrator for the Dearborn Public Schools Adult Education High School Completion Program for five years. Ed Smith '81, after teaching English in the People's Republic of China for several years, earned a master's degree in reading education with an emphasis on adult literacy from the Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Ed returned to China via a three-month teaching assignment in Korea. On January 22, 1990, he married Rebekah Lue. They returned to the States in November 1990,to become care givers in a home for pregnant women. On December 20, 1990, their daughter, Hanah Xiao Mei (Little Plum), was born. She weighed 6 lbs. 13 1/2 oz. and measured 21 in. long. In February 1991, Ed and his family moved to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where he teaches in the Intensive Confinement Center at the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary. Merry(Martha)Damon'82, a social and child care worker at Boylston Home for Girls in Manchester, New Hampshire, visited campus recently and spoke to the social casework class taught by Sandy (Millikin '59) Entner. We are grateful to alumni who are regularly networking with students and alums alike. Ken Gentzler II '83 and wife, Renee, have moved to Lima, Ohio, where Ken is the senior pastor at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Their ministry in Lima began on January 6, 1991. Ken previously was the associate pastor at First Baptist Church in 6 Spring '91 Blanchester, Ohio. Ken and Renee have two sons, Kyle, 3, and Stephen, 1. "Seasons of Faith" is a a top recording featuring songs by Lori(Lee'85)DeMarco. It is produced by Lee Through Productions, an extension of PA Evangelistic Ministries. Lori and her husband, John '85, live in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Brent Long '85 has been promoted to plant con- troller for the Glidden Company at the southwest region plant in Dallas, Texas. His wife, Carol (Koppe'85), is a financial reporting analyst for the NCNB Bank of Texas. Jan Schaedel'85 is pastor of Rochester Baptist Church in Rochester, Ohio. Jan and his wife, Shelly(Frank '86), have two children, Melissa, 2, and Jennifer Marie, born August 31, 1990. Jill(Parks'85)Wussler, a research assistant at Harvard, is pursuing her master's degree at Boston University. Larry Miller II '86 has been promoted to auditor at the Miami Valley Bank in Gallipolis, Ohio. Ralph Sprague'86 completed his master's degree at the University of Connecticut in 1989 and is employed as a child and family therapist at Tri- County Mental Health in Rumford, Maine. Ralph serves as student representative on the board of the Maine Association of Marital and Family Thera- pists. Just as exciting is his work toward a pilot's license, which he hopes to have by this summer. Robert L. Young '87, an 11-year U.S. Army reservist, has been called to active duty. Robert's home is in Jamestown, Ohio. He and his wife, Rhea(Johnson '73), have two sons, Robby, 13 1/2, and Randy, 12. Rhea teaches school in Jamestown. Kimberly Fordyce'88 has joined the faculty of Grand Rapids Bible College. She teaches physical education and coaches in the athletic department. Kim earned her master's degree at the University of Dayton. Joel Lum '89 of Modern Technologies Corp. in Dayton is a contractor in aeronautical equipment at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Joel currently supports 300 pc's, 100 printers, an automated VAX system, and he recently installed a Novell/Ethernet Network. Joel plans to start his master's work at Wright State or the University of Dayton in the near future. Joel and Teresa Robison '90 were married on August 26, 1989. Lori(Miesse'89) Reiter is a kindergarten teacher in the Worthington City Schools(Columbus, Ohio area)and a part-time graduate student at The Ohio State University. Lori and her husband Tom '88 are expecting their first child in March 1991. Kimberly(Mitchell '89)Snodgrass teaches sixth- grade English at New Carlisle Middle School in New Carlisle, Ohio, where she is coordinating and writing a curriculum for a computer course. Kim also gave in-service training for first year teachers in Clark County. She is half-way through her graduate work in computer education at the University of Dayton. OneInChrist Dan Smith '70 married Barbara Tounson on October 10, 1990. It was Dan's 42nd birthday. The couple lives in Boise, Idaho, where Dan owns a sign shop. Glenda Maxey'83 and Barry Erikson were married in Groton, Connecticut, on June 17, 1989. They now live in Ft. Myers, Florida, where Glenda teaches at Evangelical Christian School. Jane Adams'84 and Benjamin Smith '86 were united in marriage at Grace Baptist Church, Cedarville, Ohio, on February 16, 1991. Jane is director of alumni relations and Ben is assistant controller at Cedarville College. Kathi Holman '85 and Rob Myers exchanged wedding vows at First Baptist Church of Freeport, Illinois, on July 21, 1990. Kathi is teaching first grade at a public school in Freeport, while Rob is a computer science student at a nearby university. Kris Wilcox '85 and Judy Gehman were united in holy matrimony on November 24, 1990, at First Baptist Church of Elyria, Ohio. A CPA, Kris is a senior accountant at Hausser and Taylor in Elyria. Tom Carr'86 and Paula Andrews were married in the rose garden of Northwest Baptist Seminary in Tacoma, Washington,on July 14, 1990. Lynn Hackenberry'87 exchanged marriage vows with Robert Young at the Blue Church in Philadel- phia, Pennsylvania, on December 15, 1990. Robin Johnston '87 married David Thomas at the Grace Baptist Church in Middletown, Ohio, on October 13, 1990. Lisa Rains'87 and Randy Rogers joined hearts at Trinity Grace Brethren Church, Columbus, Ohio, on May 5, 1990. Lisa is a staff member for Congress- man John Kasich in the Columbus office. Janet Wittekind '87 and Scott Partlow were married at Nassau Bay Baptist Church, Houston, Texas, on November 25, 1989. Janet is a regis- tered nurse in a critical care unit in Houston. Gretchen Mountz'88 and Eric Zehr '87 exchanged vows at Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on June 23, 1990. Gretchen is an accountant for Krause Kerr and Co. in Fort Wayne. Eric is a trust officer at Lincoln Finance Corp. in the same city. Ruth Marie Murtoff'88 married David Brown at Dover Bible Church in Dover, Pennsylvania, on October 6, 1990. The marriage of Lori Ottaway'88 and Kelly Mathis'87 took place on June 9, 1990 at First Baptist Church in Corry, Pennsylvania. Ben Garrison '89 and Kristin Wieber were married on May 26, 1990. Michelle Hinnergardt'89 and Mark Lamb'89 became one on June 24, 1989,and live in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mark has applied to medical osteopathic, chiropractic, and graduate schools and plans to begin studies in spring 1991. Michelle is working on a doctorate in clinical psychology at Indiana State University. In her assistantship, she teaches two sections of undergraduate psychology. She is in her second year of a five-year program. Michelle Nestor'89 married Ronald Hopkins on August 4, 1990. Suzette Ramsey'89 and David Mossman '88 were united in marriage at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Ohio, on June 10, 1989. Dave now attends Baptist Bible Seminary, and Suzette teaches fourth grade at Summit Baptist Academy in Pennsylvania. Linda Garrigan '90 married David Ryan '90 on December 29, 1990. Jaime Gonzalez'90 and Shawn Hess'90 were married on July 14, 1990, at Shawnee Baptist Church in Vincentown, New Jersey. Sara Lynn Tilla '90N and David Stoner, Jr.'89 joined their lives together on July 29, 1989, in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Handiwork OfGod Christian and Judy(Rehn '69)Spencer wel- comed number 11 in the person of Isaiah Phinehas born August 25, 1990, weighing 9 lbs. Isaiah met Natanya, Ariel, Philemon, Nehemiah, Hilary, Anastasia, Elijah, Evangelyn, Amana,and Sebastian almost immediately, since he was born at home. Judy and Christian moved to rural Alabama and are restoring a 100-year-old house, while Judy homeschools the children and Christian attends law school in Birmingham. Jerry and Elaine(Howard '77) Chamberlin were thrilled when Kendra Renee arrived to join Kyle 3. She was born on October 21, 1990, and weighed 6 lbs.9 oz. Michael and Sara(Browning '77) Meyer wel- comed Mary Ellen on July 29, 1990. She weighed 9 lbs. 8 oz. Mary Ellen had the distinction of being delivered at home by her father. Emily,8, Melinda, 6, Stephen,4, Jared, 3, and Caleb, 1 1/2, are her siblings. Cal '77 and Deborah(Jackson '81)Searles welcomed Timothy Don on October 19, 1990. He joined Amy, 2. He weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. and was 21 in. long. Mark '77 and Cindi(Porter'77)Sigmon eagerly awaited the birth of Kari Lynn on October 15, 1990. She weighed 8 lbs.6 oz. and was 20 in. long.
