As a statewide consortium of academic libraries, OhioLINK facilitates interlibrary resources sharing, secures group discounts on digital resources, and represents academic libraries at a state level.These activities have direct, tangible benefits for Cedarville faculty and students. Through OhioLINK, Cedarville has access to world-class information resources at steeply discounted costs. A recent analysis determined that the list price of the digital journals and books available through OhioLINK packages that are used by Cedarville faculty and students is 60 times the cost actually paid by Cedarville to OhioLINK. Resource sharing of print materials is what most people think of when talking about OhioLINK. Last year, Cedarville faculty and students borrowed nearly 3,000 books from other libraries across the state thanks to OhioLINK’s resource sharing agreements. OhioLINK has played a major role in positioning the state among the very best in the nation for library services and we have benefited tremendously from our membership in the organization. National Library Week was April 6th through 12th! This annual event highlights the important work that libraries do in their communities and this year’s theme was “Drawn to the Library.” To celebrate, the library provided activities for students to show their appreciation and love for libraries. Students could guess the title of a book only by individual lines within a jar, and share their favorite book quote or picture book. In keeping with the theme, perhaps the most popular activity was coloring their very own bookmarks, which were designed by Circulation student worker Layne Osborne! As usual, funds will be directed toward the Centennial Library Scholarship and the Don and Julie Deardoff English Scholarship.
