News | alumnotes Conrad Weaver ’88 has started work on a new documentary film, Heroin’s Grip , which tells the story of the heroin epidemic in Maryland. The film will be completed by September 2017. Conrad hopes that the film will teach students and others about the dangers of heroin and opioid use. Mark Biddinger ’91 earned his Master of Business Administration from Cedarville in May. Susan Joy Clark ’94 recently published a comedy mystery novel, Action Men with Silly Putty. It has been available in Kindle format for a year and is now available in print through Amazon. The story features a toy inventor who becomes an amateur sleuth. She also recently published a short mystery story to Kindle, The Lit Club Mystery. Send us your news! Allie (Heller) Slocum ’94 released the first book in her Character Club series for fourth–sixth graders. The book follows a young girl’s journey toward compassion and is meant to be used in the public schools. The second in the series, following a young boy’s journey toward integrity, will be out later this year. Tim ’95 and Naomi (Jensen) Cowley ’95 have moved to Portland, Oregon, after 13 years in Malawi and Mozambique. Tim now works as a mobilizer and media producer and trainer for an international agency and has started up Expat Media Pro, which aims to place faith-based media professionals with nonprofit groups in the developing world. Brian Orme ’96 is the Senior Content Director at Open Doors, a nonprofit advocacy group for the persecuted church. Wife Jenna (Crowe) ’96 serves as a clinical adjunct nursing instructor for Cedarville. The couple lives in Springboro, Ohio, with their four boys: Noah (17), Sam (15), Ethan (13), Sol (7). Celia King ’95 recently achieved Myers Briggs Master Practitioner status and was certified as an Equine Experiential Education Association Practitioner. Celia is the founder and lead consultant of Arrants McSwain Team Building in Canton, Ohio, where she helps leaders build strong teams by delivering team building and leadership development events with Myers Briggs and Equine Assisted Learning. Karen Jacobsen ’99 recently published a children’s curriculum called “Footings for Children” with her colleague Dwight Vogt. The curriculum was the culmination of her work in Rwanda with Food for the Hungry from 2009–2012. In 2014, she graduated from New York University with a Master of Public Administration. She currently directs the children’s and adoption/foster care ministry at Grace Redeemer Church. Donna Paulsen ’03 launched Soul Hope Ministries in January 2017. This ministry seeks to help people engage with the Word of God through dramatic, interactive Scripture performances.
