Pre-Service Teachers' Use of Frustration to Enhance Communication

METHODS: SURVEY/INTERVIEWS Survey questions related to teaching ELLs in their overseas school setting: • Explain your personal struggles in preparing lesson plans for classes with a high percentage of ELLs (English Language Learners). • Explain your personal struggles when the lesson did not go well and you recognized the barrier was language-related. • What workable strategies did you implement that were different from what you would have expected to use with NSs (Native Speakers)? • How effective was one particular strategy? Provide anecdotal evidence. For which content area was this strategy helpful? Was the strategy specific to that content area (a strategy that would only work with one content area) or could it be used in a variety of content areas? • Having to make these modifications based on the diversity in your classroom, how do you think this impacted your teaching?
