ave you ever been blessed by a happenstance reunion? I was recently
witness to a reunion of sisters that reminded me of all the alumni who
return to campus to bump into old roommates and friends. These three
sisters had not seen each other for five years. One living in New York,
the other in Ohio, and the third and only driver in Kentucky made getting together
difficult. They held their reunion in the back seat ofa 1990 Honda Civic on a trip
from South Carolina while my husband and I drove. These three made every second
count! From catching up on all the latest family news to sharing prayer concerns,to
becoming reacquainted with familiar smiles and tears, these three soaked in every
minute of their precious time.Thanks to my mother-in-law,two aunts,and a 38-hour
trip to South Carolina,I rediscovered the meaning ofreunions and Homecoming
somewhere in Tennessee.
How thankful we can be for class officers who plan and organize the precious
moments classes spend together during Homecoming Weekend.Their diligent efforts
and commitment to make a classmate's return to campus enjoyable are applauded by
all. It is a thrill to watch alumni who return to Cedarville's campus for the first time
in 25 years. Many alumni are amazed by the physical change and thrilled with the
current students. Most exciting is experiencing their delight in seeing old friends. Just
as delightful are those surprise reunions that occur in the chapel foyer or on the
sidewalk or at the sidelines ofthe soccer game. When the familiar smiles offriendly
faces meet for the first time in many years,I know Homecoming has met the goal of
reacquainting alumni with each other. Mark these 1993 Homecoming dates—October
16 and 17! You will want tojoin the many alumni who return for this special reunion
weekend.
