Inspire, Summer 1993 - page 13

Over 100 missionaries and their families participated
in the annual Spring Missionary Conference March
23-26. Dr. Ronald Blue with CAM International, the
keynote speaker,challenged the Cedarville College
family to serve God anywhere and everywhere.
Marcia Kingsbury'84 and Bobby'91 and Sara
Sweetland Hile'92 were on hand to meet one-on-one
with students interested in full-time missionary
service. Bobby and Sara also presented a puppet
drama describing the ministry they anticipate in South
Africa.
Clancy'87 and Sandy O'Boyle Cruise '86
interviewed with Dr. Dixon during a chapel
session which focused on marriage and the
family. The students applauded the Cruises for
their conviction to carry to term their first child
who was diagnosed with severe disabilities, but
passed away before birth. Clancy and Sandy
introduced Brandon, their eight-month old son,
to the student body and announced that they
are expecting their third baby in July.

BBI
Celebrating 40!
0
n April 2,Cedarville College
commemorated the merger of
Cedarville College and Baptist Bible
Institute ofCleveland(BBI)by
"Celebrating 40!" BBI had desired a
place where it could continue to grow and meet
the increasing challenges of their Bible program,
while the Presbyterian liberal arts college had
sought a church group that would continue what
their five founders started 66 years before. God
satisfied the desires of both on April4, 1953,
when Cedarville College and Baptist Bible
Institute merged and continued operating under
the charter ofthe College established in 1887.
"Celebrating 40!" began with many
Cedarville/BBI alumni returning to campus.Those
alumni from 1953 to 1956 were invited to a
special chapel service focusing on the transitional
days. Dr. Gerald Smelser'91H,on the board of
trustees for both BBI and Cedarville College, gave
a brief overview of BBI.Dr.Donald Kyle'28,
member ofthe board oftrustees during the
transitional time,gave testimony ofGod's
goodness to Cedarville College.Several others
participated in the chapel program including Lynn
Rogers'54,Dr.Jeremiah'90H,and Leigh Hunt
'54.The program included an outstanding slide
production.
Administrators and staffjoined the
Cedarville/BBI alumni in the President's Dining
Room for a luncheon in their honor.
At the BBI reunion
luncheon
William Carter'54
