For fall quarter 1993,enrollment reached a record 2,278—an increase of 106 students over fall 1992.This year's increase 011, is mostly men,and the average ACT score for incoming freshman is 24.Of the new students at Cedarville,25 percent were in the top 10 percent of their high school classes and nine are national merit finalists or semi- finalists. The admissions office received over 1,700 applications for only 700 places in the incoming classes. Rapidly growing departments are engineering and nursing. In the 15 years since Dr. Paul Dixon became president, Cedarville's enrollment has increased over90%and the number of faculty and staff has doubled. avow cola in Dr. Knute Larson,senior pastor of The Chapel in Akron, Ohio, wasthe featured speaker for the annual Fall Bible Conference,September 20-24. During the morning and evening sessions, Larson challenged listeners to live under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, rather than the weakness of the flesh. Students enjoyed his challenging message,ability to identify with his audience,and sense of humor. auksfor Four ears ofService icki Butler'80completes her term on the alumni council and we salute her for the energy and direction she has given to the Alumni Association on your behalf. Vicki lives in Cincinnati,Ohio and represents over 250 alumni in her geographical area. She is cost accounting manager with Gibson Greetings,Inc. Vicki attends Faith Bible Church in Cincinnati and is active in many church-related programs. Her skill and heart for basketball makes Alumni Basketball Weekend one of her favorite events that the Alumni Council organizes. Vicki is a 1988 inductee into the Cedarville College Athletic Hall of Fame. Vicki also has increased council visibility on campus and chaired the nominating committee for new council candidates. ryan Benson'83 and his wife,Bethany Terpenning '84,live in York,Pennsylvania where he is a senior software analyst for York International Corporation,a position which includes frequent trips to Texas and Mexico. Bryan serves as vice chair for the Alumni Council and enjoys his work on the Alumni Relations Committee. As a member of Cedarville's Yellow Jacket Club,he enjoys planning the Alumni Basketball Weekend and has taken an active role in organizing the All-Alumni Chapel during Homecoming Weekend.He has also helped with organizing regional alumni gatherings in the Harrisburg area. Dan obtained his master's degree in logistics managementfrom AFIT in 1991 and is currently working on a doctorate. His undergraduate degree is in biology.Dan enjoys serving Cedarville and has done so recently by serving as a guest speaker in an Alumni/Student Career Forum,performing with the college orchestra, arranging campus visits for potential students,and organizing his 15 year class reunion.Dan and his wife,Jeanne Pippin '78, have four children and attend Patterson Park Church. herry Rotramel Bouquet'87 and her husband, John,live in Ashland,Ohio,where John is the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.Her degree in communication arts and psychology has enabled Sherry to launch a career with R.R. Donnelly and Sons Company in the field ofhuman resources and total quality management.Sherry was training coordinator for the company before the birth oftheir son, Andre,and now serves as a part-time development consultant with Continuous Improvement Technologies. Sherry obtained her master's degree from Miami University in organizational communications in 1988.She has made her services and expertise available to Cedarville College and communication arts students in a variety ofclass and chapel settings. Sherry and John enjoy team teaching the young married Sunday school class, directing and acting in skits/dramas,and leading the worship team in music and church service planning.
